Gemma2.2b has seemed to be a pretty reliable model for its’ size. Good reasoning, a bit of character, and runs fast on just about anything (even phones and outdated laptops). We have mostly been using this with Ollama on an M1 Mac Mini with 8GB Ram and an Intel i5-6300u Windows Surface Book with 8GB Ram, both run it without any issues and pairing it with Open Web UI enables web search and the ability to look at images and documents with reasonable results. Soft, gooey, and overall the Gemma2:2b Cookie is pretty good. Our only complaint was they are a bit heavy on the chocolate chips, but if you like a soft chewy cookie look no further. The chip count per cookie fell short of the initial discussion on chip volume by about 20%, so it is interesting how the AI is working between the discussion of how many chips make a chocolate chip cookie compared to how many it ends up putting in it. The dough was sticky like the Ai predicted and did need some chilling in the fridge prior to portioning. They are definitely not a milk dunking cookie, their gooey soft texture is too moist for milk uptake, but they would compliment ice cream well. The recipe made 38 cookies, they were slightly flat without much rise, but an overall success for Gemma2:2b.
That is until you check out the WAC3 table, and you notice it is nearly an exact copy of our control recipe from Nestle Tollhouse. Now we are left wondering if this is just a regurgitation of training data that happens to include the control recipe within the model, or if this is just the most common possible recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Spoiler alert, other models have different recipes, so definitely interesting, and no wonder they came out so well.
