So this is another simple exercise in creating a game with the assistance of Ai. We used Claude.ai for this, which has been our go to for simple coding projects, and is really beginner friendly. Claude.ai manages to fix several issues, help make multiple modifications, and generally got the vibe of what we were going for. Find the file below if you want to download it, a link to play Pop-up Nightmare Challenge here, and a video description below, with our prompt to generate the game following.
This is the starting prompt given to Claude, it actually produced a nice playable result. Give it a try yourself.
Can you make a single file web game, perhaps in html, that looks like a 1990’s webpage and then a pop-up ad comes up, and the goal is for the user to close it, but then another one comes up, then another, and they start popping up a bit faster and fast in different locations one the screen, and the user loses once there are 10 pop-ups open simultaneously. I would also like the app to keep score of how many you have closed.
As you can tell, the is one giant run-on sentence and Claude still had no problem with a nice result. We did the same with DeepSeek, and it also created a playable game first go, but the vibes were not as good as Claude and it seemed to struggle more with the modifications, both cosmetic and functional.
